Berahino not in right frame of mind to play against Chelsea following rumors of move to Spurs

England U-21 international Saido Berahino has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur for much of the summer and now it looks like that move might finally be coming to fruition. Berahino has been left out of West Brom manager Tony Pulis' 18-man squad for today's match against Chelsea and the Birmingham Mail and reporter Paul Suart are reporting that Berahino has been left out due to off-field distractions.

This likely points to the increased interest from Spurs, who, depending upon whom you believe, made a couple of pretty substantial bids for Berahino this week. Many had wondered if or when Berahino would begin to sit out ahead of this transfer. Having started the first two matches of the season, it seems that Pulis and West Brom are only now willing to let him go. This willingness is probably helped by the recent addition of Salomon Rondon, who joined the Baggies from Zenit St. Petersburg a little over a week ago.

West Brom's chairman, Jeremy Peace has previously said that Berahino is not for sale, but if the 22 year-old striker continues to sit out, the club will have little choice but to move him on. There are now nine days left in the summer transfer window, which gives Spurs plenty of time to complete this deal, and hopefully any other deals that they may have going on.
