Earlier today, we brought you the rumor that Spurs had made an £8m bid for Pato. That may or may not have been true, but it doesn't matter, because the Duck will not be joining. ESPN Brazil reports he told his teammates he's sticking around.
During a press conference, Sao Paulo midfielder Thiago Mendes was asked about Pato. He said that the forward told him that he wasn't going to be leaving, despite an offer from abroad.
That's very bad news for Corinthians, the team that owns him. They pay part of Pato's salary even though he plays for a rival, so they were really hoping to get him out the door. But they can't force him to accept an offer, so they're just going to have to keep eating that salary.
As for Spurs, they'll have to find their striker help elsewhere. And if Mauricio Pochettino sees Clinton N'Jie as a center forward, they might not try that hard to sign anyone at all.
